Well--the sun is shining here today in the Susquehanna Valley and it reminds me that the SPRING FLING is fast approaching....have you made your reservation yet if you are a vendor and want a table??? They are going fast.
If you are a visitor, have you made your travel plans yet??? We are excited about this year with all our new acquisitions and hoping for nice weather for BOTH days--but of course, we are not in control of that. So be prepared for anything--bring your rain gear, bring your shorts, bring your winter jacket--you just NEVER know what the weather is going to be!
So plan now (if you haven't already done your planning) to join us on June 4-5, 2010.

Last weekend we were in Cooperstown, NY, to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum....we also had the opportunity to visit the Cooperstown Diner for dinner.....sure reminded us of the Valentine Diner in the Museum.
A true "diner" is a prefabricated structure built at an assembly site and transported to a permanent location for installation to serve prepared food. Webster's Dictionary defines a diner as "a restaurant in the shape of a railroad car." The word "diner" is a derivative of "dining car" and diner designs reflected the styling that manufacturers borrowed from railroad dining cars. A diner is usually outfitted with a counter, stools and a food preparation or service area along the back wall. Decommissioned railroad passenger cars and trolleys were often converted into diners by those who could not afford to purchase a new diner.

Not sure if this made the National News or not--but earlier this week, here in Lancaster, a partial building collapse hit a Red Rose Transit bus that was in service....the damage to the bus is unreal--and, believe it or not, no one was seriously hurt.
The building had been damaged due to excavation of the property next to it and the results were the building collapsing and damaging property on the other side of it.

From the current issue of Busride Magazine:
From Sainte-Claire, QB,Canada, April 6, 2010, Prevost and Volvo Bus say the currently announced purchase of Volvo Car by Zhejiang Geely does not affect Volvo Group, Volvo Bus or Prevost, as these entities maintain their focus solely on the commercial vehicle industry and Volvo Group has had no responsibility to Volvo Car since 1999.
When Ford purchased the Volvo Car division from Volvo A.B.in 1999, there was no effect on the daily business within Volvo Bus. The sale of the car division allowed the Volvo Group to focus on the strengthening of its commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, and construction equipment.

Have you thought about a way to be "personally" recognized at the Museum??? One of the greatest ways to do that is to purchase a BRICK that will be placed at the front entrance of the Museum.
These bricks are a wonderful to remember someone on their birthday or congratulate a graduate ... here are the details:
A small (4" x 8") brick is available with 3 lines of text (not more than 14 letters/spaces per line) for $125. A larger brick (8" x 8") is available with the Museum of Bus Transportation logo in addition to 3 lines of text OR 4 lines of text and no logo for $250.

Here's a another GREAT picture - notice the Michaud Bus on the left! Look familiar? This was taken at Old Clemente's Bus Port on State Road, Delaware. Greyhound Buses used the bays on the right hand side, Trailways Buses used the bays across the platform on the left hand side, and charter buses of all other carriers parked in the rear.
