What a delightful weekend we had here in the Susquehanna Valley - with Spring arriving on Saturday--the daffodils are open, tulips are poking their heads through the ground, magnolias are ready to pop....all makes me think of the SPRING FLING which is not too far away--June 4-5, 2010! Have you made your reservation yet?

Well at 2 am tomorrow morning--don't forget to put your clocks ahead 1 hour--that means the illusion of more daylight hours for most of us but secondly it means Spring is finally on its way!
And when you think of Spring--of course, you think of the Museum's SPRING FLING....have you booked your room yet? If you are a vendor--did you send in your reservation?

Oh me, oh my--what a rainy day we have here in the Susquehanna Valley--but you can brighten your spirits and outlook by visiting the Bus Museum today! Always get a sunny outlook when you visit us.
While you can't get to the Memorial Annex today (especially on a day like today)--you could also spend this rainy day planning your trip to the Spring Fling this year - June 4-5! Hope to see you then!

Well, we escaped the bullet overnight--we did NOT get more snow as was predicted (believe it or not last night on the 10 pm local news--they predicted 1-2 inches of slush by morning rush hour)--how can they always be this wrong and still have their jobs???
Anyway--there is still time to visit the exhibit "Buses of the Negro Leagues Baseball Teams" which runs through next Tuesday. You can also meet former Harrisburg Giants Pitcher, Willie Fordham!

Along with Willie Fordham, we have had the pleasure of having Mr. James "Jim" Weedon visit our exhibit. He was a right fielder for the Harrisburg Giants for two seasons (1954, 1955). He also played under Negro Legend, Spottswood Poles, in a 1953 barnstorm tour. In 1954, the Harrisburg Giants beat out the Pittsburgh Crawfords for the Doc Marshall Troply emblematic of the Eastern Negro League Crown.

As we wind down our "Buses of the Negro Leagues Baseball Teams" exhibit--let me remind you that there is still one week and one weekend left for the display. Due to the VERY inclement weather we had for the month of February, we decided to extend the display a week.
Don't miss meeting our "star" of the exhibit - Wilbur "Willie" Fordham, who was a pitcher for the Harrisburg Giants right here in the Susquehanna Valley. In 1947-48 he played for the Philadelphia Meteors; 1951 Oshawa Merchants and Belleville Redman, Candian League; 1952 he tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers; 1952 he played with the Harrisburg Senators; and in 1954-1955 - he played for the Harrisburg Giants and in 1954 they were the Eastern Negro League Champions!
We are very grateful to Mr. Fordham for giving up his time to spend the month of February with us.
