It is snowing yet again here in the Susquenhanna Valley and the Museum will be opening at 11 am! Here's some bus trivia for you:
Greyhound Bus Lines originated in 1914 when Swedish immigrant Carl Eric Wickman began transporting miners in Minnesota for 15¢ per ride. The company sees numerous changes and in 1929, Motor Transport Corp. changes its name to Greyhound and adopts the running dog as its corporate logo. In 1956, the slogan "It's such a comfort to travel by bus - and leave the driving to us." is created. The slogan evolves to "Go Greyhound - and leave the driving to us."

Due to the almost week-long inclement weather we have had this month, we have decided to continue our Buses of the Negro Leagues display into March--and Willie Fordham, a former Negro Leagues Baseball Player for the Harrisburg Giants, has agreed to continue his display as well. So if you were unable to get out to the Museum in February due to all the snow, know that you can still catch the display the first week in March.

Well, the Susquehanna Valley has received 40 inches of snow since Saturday...here's a picture of our driveway and a picture taken during the storm of the bird feeders--not many places to go with the snow. The Museum will be open today. Many roads in the Valley are still closed due to high winds and drifting...so be careful out there.
I am happy to report the Museum will be open today after two days of digging out! But as I said before--many roads are still closed (like the one that goes past our house!)

THINK SPRING! Actually, what I want to say is: THINK SPRING FLING!!!
We are ready to start taking applications for tables for the Spring Fling. The vendor form is available on our website (if you don't see it--it will be there in a day or two).
A few changes this year--vendor spaces are $50 each--whether you are there for one or both days. We are asking that no animals except Service Animals be brought to the Fling. There are a few other items about the hours and set-up for the vendors. The price of admission will stay the same at $2.00 which we feel is a BARGAIN!

Well, the Susquehanna Valley had another "no snow" snow storm last night....we went to Hershey for the Board Meeting at 6:30 pm--when we came out at 8:10 pm--we had a couple inches of snow! It was a hairy ride home--but 1-1/2 hours later we made it! Ugh.
On a brighter note--before the meeting two of our Board Members moved the Capitol Flxible from the Annex to the Museum and put it in place of the Forrest Gump bus. The Flx is a typical bus that was used by the Negro Leagues Baseball Teams.
If you have the chance, you've got to come meet Mr. Willie Fordham--he is such a delightful person and has so much knowledge about the Negro Leagues--you could just see his face light up after we moved the Flx inside the building and he got in it--you could see all those memories coming back!
